Lake Superior Sunrise 2006 (Jennett) |
| On July 7, 2006, nine days after leaving North Star, Pam and Charlie departed Sault Ste. Marie and headed for Whitefish Point on what would become a " thousand mile sailing pilgrimage" to the west end of Lake Superior. During the next 34 days they would visit many of their favorite harbors and anchorages from prior trips and fly the North Star Burgee into Ontonagon, Bayfield, the Apostle Islands, Cornucopia, Superior, Duluth, and Silver Bay Minnesota. They explored some of our Great Lakes maritime heritage, saw spectacular sunrises and sunsets and had, on some occasions, the opportunity to deal with some rather interesting weather and sea conditions. The 2008 Cruising Meeting will be on Sun 2/24. |

The purpose of the Cruising Program is to foster fellowship among
the NSSC cruisers. Events are scheduled from May to October and
usually include sailing to a destination for an overnite, lots of
good food, and fun! Flags are awarded for participation and cruising
on one?s own boat. A $5 per cruise registration fee is charged to offset costs of awards, flags, and miscellaneous expenses.
