Come on out and sail! Wednesdays are fun again! With a
pursuit start, these participation events (we don’t call them races) are open
to any boat that floats and has sails. Never participated in an organized
event? We have experienced sailors who will go out with you to eliminate the
intimidation factor. Dates are every
Wednesday, beginning May 18 and continuing through September 14. For more information, contact Blair Arden at 586-263-8855.

The Macomb Daily makes sure that this race gets some press! Come
play on Anchor Bay and maybe get your 15 minutes of fame! A great cookout after
the race makes it a full day of fun in the sun. This year, we’re going to have
more fun on the water, too, with a new race format that

August 18
The Detroit Yacht Club is the destination. It doesn’t matter
if you are a racer or cruiser, how you get there is not important as long as
it’s by boat. Leave the North Star Saturday. Spend the night at the DYC. Food
and fun!
Past Commodore's Race (Club Championship Series)

August 26
A North Star classic! This year, we’ve moved this distance race to the end of August and
included it in the Club Championship Series. Good chance that there will be some racing in the dark, which always
mixes things up! Come party at the club
afterward.

September 9
65 years young this year! Join in the celebration of North Star's
birthday! A great day
for a race in the bay with a new race format that uses a pursuit start and
focuses on fun. What is a
birthday without a party! Help us celebrate at the club. Bring your family and meet old and new
friends.
Sloman Scramble (Club Race)

September 16
According to lore, Bill Sloman always wanted a race that allowed the possibility of the slowest boat finishing
first. He had a vested interest since
his boat was the slowest. This race
honors him and others with slower boats by starting in a staggered fashion
according to the performance ratings. This,
in theory, should have all the boats finishing at the same time! (Luckily, this rarely occurs!) Everyone needs to follow their watches
carefully!!
Howard Boston Memorial Race (Club Championship Series)
Notice of Race | Sailing Instructions | Results
September 30
This race is the first of the Fall Series, but open to all
who wish only to do one race to finish the year. The race format is for a
longer race, with many mark roundings. If you can't
make the entire series, this is a good alternative. This year, the race is
included in the Club Championship Series, making it your last chance to take
your shot!
Anchor Bay Fall Series

September 30, October 7, 14, and
20
The change of season always brings a wide range of weather
conditions to this series, usually including abundant wind! NSSC can arrange for boat slips for
out-of-town boats, available first come, first served. The galley is open for breakfast, and the club
house is always humming after the race, where food, beverages, and great
sailing stories are always abundant. This
year, we will run as many as two windward/leeward races on days 2 and 3,
increasing the planned number of races in the series to six. And, of course, there will be flags for each
race.
Club Championship Series
The Club Championship Series is open to NSSC boats and
consists of races of various distances throughout the sailing season. Take your shot at being named Club
Champion! The series includes the
Boston-Yachtsman Regatta, the Past Commodore’s Race, and the Howard Boston
Memorial Race.
